When you attend a wedding, you always go for the happily ever after, for the modern fairy tale and the beautiful details that the couple worked so hard in crafting for their day.
There is so much emotion, happy tears and maybe even a few minor ‘not going according to plan” situations in between.
What you rarely get to see, are people who, from the very beginning of their day, are just happy, plain and simple content, at ease; people in a state of never-ending appreciation for the day ahead and pure excitement to see their favourite human and become spouses.
These people were Claudia and Christopher this past weekend. We were honoured to be by their side all day and witness one of the most memorable weddings and epic dancefloors we’ve seen.
Welcome to their story.
How did everything start?
We met at our close friend’s engagement party (Georgia and Chris March) about six years ago. We were at their bridal party and their wedding, and now they are at ours. We have been together for five years – our first date was around my birthday. He lived in Melbourne and came here for the weekend. He shortly moved back to Adelaide. We moved in together after a while, got a dog, bought a place in Torrensville about a year and a half ago and got engaged on the Yorke Peninsula the weekend after we moved in.
How about the engagement?
Butler’s beach near Marion Bay on the Yorke Peninsula. We stayed in a tiny eco-friendly house on the water there for the weekend. We arrived Friday night; Saturday morning, we got up and packed a picnic, ready to explore for the day; Chris wanted to take a photo with a tripod stand he bought when we were posing for the picture with the view he got on one knee and proposed. I didn’t know he was actually filming the whole thing.
What style/theme have you chosen for your Wedding Day?
We are having a very colourful, fun, eclectic, fresh, modern summer wedding! Traditional in some ways but non-traditional in others.
What excites you the most about your wedding day?
Seeing each other for the first time on the day, spending time with our bridal party, drinking and dancing the night away with everyone, listening to the speeches and looking at our guests having a great time, then going home and taking my heels off, haha.
